Printflo was originally conceived in 2000/2001 to drive the Press4print system. Originally, it was intended to deliver print ready pdf files to remote printing locations as part of an integrated print on demand workflow.
Since then, things have moved on a bit. Printflo3 was released in October 2009.
The core of the system is a server based print workflow which can be configured, managed and used in production entirely via the web.
The system can be delivered as a managed service, which means you don't have to buy or manage any hardware to use all or part of the system.
The idea is very simple: like pretty much any computer system, we take print jobs or orders of a variety of types and formats, process it according to a set of rules then produce the output as required.
What does it do?
A Printflo workflow is designed to do what the customer wants it to, but here are some examples:
- Accept input from legacy systems via email, from csv files, web forms. [more]
- Originate orders from Printflo 'intelligent documents' integrated into a company's website. [more]
- Manage, queue and prioritise jobs from a range of sources. [more]
- Provide a 'pdf server' which can generate a version suitable for web preview, print or press.
- Provide a range of user interfaces suitable for end user order tracking, pre-press job management, despatch etc. [more]
- Output the jobs in a variety of formats at any physical location. [more]
- Printflo's on-line imposition can deliver customer jobs to digital presses ready imposed with customisable tracking data, despatch bar-codes etc. [more]
Who is it for?
- System integrators use Printflo to provide print & stationery solutions for their customers.
- Print providers use Printflo to manage their in-house workflow, but also to publish it, or part of it, to their end users. [more]
